The Packaging Answer Media
Urania Engineering proudly announces an exciting new packaging system.
Accurately named the “PACKAGING ANSWER”, our system meets the exacting demands of modern packaging, accommodating virtually all pouch types and configurations. Our “PACKAGING ANSWER” efficiently and economically integrates filling, labeling, printing, and sealing. Serving all dry good industries, the “PACKAGING ANSWER” excels in the Commercial Seed, Medical Device, and Snack Food sectors.
We have developed two versions of the system to accommodate specific customer needs. Each version offers several options and can be tailored to the end-user’s productivity requirements and budget.
Pouch Pro Media
The Urania Engineering PouchPro System
The PouchPro pouch handling system from Urania Engineering is designed for end-users whose packaging requirements are simpler and have less variation. The PouchPro processes any type of flat pouch using a four-position indexing system and vacuum technology. The four-position system allows for multiple processes on each pouch and can be run in a “double-out” configuration, processing two pouches at a time for increased cycle rates.
Pouches are sealed using our Model 5000P rotary band heat sealer and product loading can be any manual, semi-automatic, or fully automatic. A wide variety of options and peripherals are available for integration.
Model 5000P Plus Media
Model 5000P Plus Heat Sealer for UDI Compliance
In compliance with the new UDI mandate for medical devices, our Model 5000P Plus system introduces GS1 Datamatrix printing and a Keyence 2D Code Reader to our existing Allen Bradley controlled rotary band heat sealer. A large 12” color touchscreen HMI / PC monitors and informs the user of all phases of operation. As with previous versions, the Model 5000P Plus is fully validatable with respect to speed, temperature, and force. Urania utilizes a real-time monitoring system for all three of these crucial sealing parameters, and calibration methods are quick and easy.
Using a simple handheld scanner, the operator imports the current lot information to the Model 5000P Plus and all internally sealing parameters are automatically recalled from a recipe system. The UDI printing and verification system prints the GS1 code on the pouch, and verifies the information… as part of the sealing process! Any rejected pouches are automatically diverted after exiting the system, and all information is logged through the HMI / PC combination. The print head uses a disposable HP style cartridge and the ink dries instantly to the touch, even on poly materials.
An alarm and error history with time/date stamp is standard. The alarm/error information may be downloaded to a customer supplied printer, compact flash, or through an Ethernet connection. Alarms for belt speed errors, force limits, and temperature variations ensure proper operation and immediate notification in the event of a problem.
Various options are available such as powered conveyors and infeed devices, pouch trimming, and gas flush or nitrogen injection systems. The sealing head is mounted on our height adjustable, stainless steel stand with locking casters. A product reject escapement device is also available to divert improper pouches at the exit of the sealing head.

Model 5000P Heat Sealer with Allen Bradley Controls
In response to customer requests, our Model 5000P heat sealer introduces an Allen Bradley control structure to our industry leading rotary band heat sealer. A large 10” color touchscreen HMI monitors and informs the user of all phases of operation. As with previous versions, the Model 5000P is fully validatable with respect to speed, temperature, and force. Urania utilizes a real-time monitoring system for all three of these crucial sealing parameters, and calibration methods are quick and easy.
In partnering with Allen Bradley, Urania provides simplified integration to certain customer’s existing protocalls and network interfaces. The new Model 5000P can also be accessed remotely via ethernet connection for software updates, troubleshooting, and data logging.

Model 4000P Media
Model 4000P Heat Sealer with Omron Controls
Urania’s Model 4000P rotary band heat sealer has been the industry leader for many years. Utilizing a 7” color touchscreen HMI and a digital force monitoring system, operator interaction is simple and efficient. The Model 4000P is fully validatable with respect to speed, temperature, and force. Urania utilizes a real-time monitoring system for all three of these crucial sealing parameters, and calibration methods are quick and easy.
“Fully Validatable Heat Sealing”
At Urania Engineering, the definition of Validatability consists of full digital control of the three parameters important to heat sealing:
Pressure (Electro/Mechanical)
Temperature (Fahrenheit or Celsius)
Speed (Variable)
If any of these three parameters fall outside a user-defined window, the sealing process is interrupted by an audible alarm and all non-conforming product is backed out of the sealing head for removal by the operator. A digital message will appear on the HMI explaining the error, and guide the operator through corrective action.
Our Pressure Sensing System is unique to the sealing industry. It will detect wrinkles, product, or scrap in the sealing area, and reject such pouches. The control system provides simplified operation and proves ideal for customers validated to an Omron operating structure. An alarm and error history with time/date stamp is standard. Alarms for belt speed errors, force limits, and temperature variations ensure proper operation and immediate notification in the event of a problem.
